About the pattern: Caribou Hills, designed by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks, is a colorwork yoke sweater worked from the top down. This sweater was inspired by the designer's memories of sunsets in Alaska in the winter – a phenomenon called alpenglow. This design is intended to be worn with 4-10” 10-25.5 cm of positive ease, depending on your personal preference. The pattern includes full fit details in the schematic, as well as a coloring sheet to help you determine your color choices! This size-inclusive design is easily modified in sleeve and body length to create a perfect fit. Purchase the pattern on Ravelry or in the shop! If you're looking for a great way to swatch in the round for the pullover, make the matching Caribou Hills Hat. For most sweater sizes, you'll be able to knit the hat without purchasing any additional yarn than needed for your sweater.
About the Yarn: Ethically produced and traceable back to the flock, mYak Tibetan Cloud boasts soft fibers more similar to cashmere or baby yak than to wool. This very special sport/light DK-weight wool comes exclusively from an ancient breed of Tibetan sheep.
The hardy sheep that bring us this remarkable wool roam freely on the grassland of the Tibetan Plateau at an altitude of over 4000 mt. Through their work, mYak aims is to give this thousands-of-years-old nomadic lifestyle an opportunity to thrive and prosper in uncertain modern times.
Out of deep respect for animal welfare, nomads shear the sheep by hand in the traditional way that has been used for centuries – collecting the fiber following the natural life rhythms of the animals and the people who raise them. Tibetan sheep are a very strong breed that have adapted to the rough environmental conditions of the Himalayan plateau.
The herd that produces fiber for mYak Tibetan Cloud comes from a poorer area of Tibet, intentionally chosen to bring a better income to these communities. mYak aims to give this thousand of years old nomadic lifestyle an opportunity to thrive and prosper in uncertain modern times. The fiber is spun and dyed in Biella, at the foothills of the Italian Alps, the cradle of most ancient and prestigious Italian textile excellence.
Full Knitalong Schedule: We'll meet at Fancywork Yarn Shop every other Wednesday, beginning August 30, from 3:30-5:30pm each day.

Wait, what's a Knitalong, you ask? A knitalong – or KAL – is a social event designed to bring the maker's community together around a specific pattern or yarn - or sometimes both. Enjoy connecting with others while knitting the same garment or working with a particular yarn together. This is a fantastic time to gather together with others in our fiber arts community, enjoy camaraderie with comes with working through the same project and get a little guidance and support along the way.
What ISN'T a Knitalong? A KAL is not a class. You should be reasonably familiar with the techniques required to work through the project at hand. However, help is never far away! If you find yourself in need of extended project support, we offer Help Sessions twice weekly on Wednesday & Saturdays from 1-3pm.
